Being a sex-symbol is nothing new to Kellan Lutz, a former Abercrombie and Fitch model and now-famous actor for playing "Emmet Cullen" in the Twilight series.
Like his Twilight counterparts Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, Kellan Lutz is no stranger to the weight room and knows how to crank out a workout that cranks up muscle mass.
The
24-year-old, North Dakota native was recently spotted sharing his
workout body with Vancouver onlookers while he hit the gym over the
weekend.
The star has bragged in the past comparing his eight-pack of abs to costar Taylor Lautner's.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Lutz explained how he scored his washboard abs.
“I love to swim,” Lutz said to Seacrest. “I have a pool in my backyard.”
Despite his self-proclaimed candy habit, Lutz still sees himself as a workout idol who's worked hard to bulk up.
"Peter [Facinelli] has this P90X workout program and I learned Bas Rutten when I was in Africa doing Generation Kill, so it's a lot of Muay Thai Jiu-Jitsu
type of training," Lutz says of his workouts for Twilight. And when he
wasn't snacking on gummy bears and Twix bars, Lutz chose lots of
protein to keep the muscles coming.
"[I] just ate a lot of protein and bulked up. A lot of push-ups, a lot of abs, and just heavy lifting."
Making it sound simple, Lutz was happy to share his workout secrets with fans and Seventeen magazine readers earlier this fall.
"I
get bored when I'm in the gym," Lutz told Seventeen fans in his
tell-all-about-his-workout video. "And I hate to run," he adds. But
Lutz enjoys a good swim, a great workout and having his dog "Cola" with
him for playtime.
To help him stay on track with his diet,
Lutz uses a clip-on, calorie counter to manage his "walks" from the set
to the catering trailer.
"It's nice to have something to monitor and you can look down at it and I wear [it] as much as I can."
Lutz's
number one piece of advice? Have something in your routine to look at
so you can measure success and know you're doing something.
