Motor Tabs Review

For a new Triathlete, there is so much to learn and try to understand. Nutrition and Hydration is just one small part of triathlon but it plays a huge role in your success as a triathlete. Training in the summer heat can cause lots of issues for a triathlete. The main concern for me is hydration, earlier in the summer, I started to face this mean beast known as muscle cramps. At about the  1 ½ - 2 hour mark in a hard paced bike ride or a run I would start having muscle cramps. I started to do some research about muscle cramps and athletes and quickly understood that I needed to replace sodium levels that I lost while I trained. I started to use electrolyte products and they seemed to do the trick however it was just one more thing that I had to carry with me and worry about. I already carried Gels and or protein bars to add calories that I burned while training.  I constantly had to remind myself to take the electrolyte products, and most of the time I would forget, once a cramp starts there is little to no hope in getting it to go away. The key is preventing the muscle cramp before it starts.

I was very fortunate to find a product known as Motor Tabs,

MOTOR TABS Fluid Replacement System – a revolutionary effervescent electrolyte + energy tablet - turns ordinary water into a smooth, refreshing sports drink. Designed for use any time around your participatory athletic activity (before, during and after), MOTOR TABS is a portable sports drink that can go anywhere, as the individual tablets are wrapped in water/air tight foil packages that protect them from sweat, dirt and other harmful elements. OneTri is one of the premier retailers for the Motor Tabs Fluid Replacement System, 24 Count.

Features:

  • Portability. A box of 24 tablets weighs only 19 ounces! Compare that to 26 lbs for 24 liquid sports drinks!
  • Optimum ratio of sodium, potassium, and carbohydrates
  • Air/Water tight packaging protects MOTOR TABS from the elements
  • Leaves no residue when dissolved, so it is great for use in hydration systems
  • Four great flavors to choose from. Lemon-Lime, Orange, Fruit Punch and Grape

Sports drinks have been around for many years. There are several good choices out there today, both in the ready-to-drink (RTD) and powder formats. Both delivery systems are good, but we created MOTOR TABS™ to bridge the gap between RTDs, powder and water!

MOTOR TABS relies on an optimal ratio of sodium/potassium and a unique blend of three energy sources (dextrose, sucrose, maltodextrin), providing a well-balanced array of ingredients. MOTOR TABS restores your body’s electrolyte balance and provides a solid energy profile to help you stay hydrated and maintain peak performance throughout your training, racing or exercise sessions.

Each tablet delivers 250 mg of sodium, 75 mg of potassium 16 grams of carbohydrate and 65 calories. You can decide how many tablets you need per bottle based on your individual fluid requirements. Most athletes prefer one, one-and-a-half or two TABS per bottle. Four flavors are available: Fruit Punch, Lemon-Lime, Orange, and Grape.

Once the tablets dissolves there is no sediment or residual settling that is common with other sports drinks, as dissolution is thorough and complete. Cleaning your bottles and reservoirs is quick and easy as well.

Today I was able to test out Motor Tabs and I am very pleased with the product, it truly works and the best part for me is that I do not have to remember to take the product. With it added to my water I just hydrate as normal on the bike or the run and I don’t have to worry about carrying something else around with me.

There are lots of factors that make motor tabs a great product for endurance athletes. There is no sticky residue, and cleaning your water bottle is a snap.  It is super easy to use and carry, just drop the tab into your water bottle and it dissolves and you are ready to go.

Motor Tabs is a vital tool that every endurance athlete should give a try!

Roots N Blues Half Marathon

by Chris Rogers 30. August 2009 17:52

Well the time has come for me to try and attempt my first Half Marathon. I am a huge fan of "put up of shut up", and I get motivation and accoutability from others that encourage me along my journey.

By telling others about my next Journey it forces me to not only let myself down by not training and trying but also all those that I tell.

So here it is,  locked and loaded!

Sept, 26th 2009

"Welcome to the innagural Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival Half Marathon. Make plans NOW to celebrate your running accomplishment in grand style.

This could be the biggest running party of the year! Last year, the Roots N Blues festival drew over 100,000 people. This year promises to be the biggest and best yet. "

8-6-2009 Run analyzed with new training software.

by Chris Rogers 18. August 2009 21:04

 8-6-2009 Run

This Graph Shows Pace & Grade

The Tan line is Grade and the Blue line is Pace.

I also have this graph broken down into three different zones,

Walking pace from   15:00-35:00
Jogging Pace from   10:00-15:00
 Running pace from  0.00-10:00

As you can see from the graph I start with a short 5 min warm up that keeps me in the Walking zone, after the 5 min mark my run starts.

This program will actually Alert me by Audio via my iPhone if I am slipping out of my current set pace. This allows me to train for a certain pace.

I will also start to incorporate Heart Rate into my training and logging. This will allow me to train with HR & Pace.

So much fun!
